Happy Halloween

Halloween used to be my favorite holiday. Not since we moved to Arizona, we don't get any trick or treaters but I can still make cards for family and friends.

I choose a #Queen and Co. kut which made these super easy.

To create the semtiment I used my #Cricut, #Foil Quill and #Cricut's Baby Steps cartridge.

I am entering these cards into these Challenges:

I have to admit that I'm old and REALLY set in my ways. I really don't care for today's movies but I LOVE old classic movies. We have a 70" tv and spend quite a bit of our time watching old black and white movies.

There are way too many movies to have a real favorite, at least for me and there are several that I can watch over and over such as, "Bringing Up Baby", "North By Northwest" and, "Jane Eyre" to name a few as well as today's choice, "The Long, Long Trailer" staring Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez. Parts of the movie were filmed in Yosemite National Park and the scenery is stunning. I love Lucy and her antics always make me laugh.

The plot of the movie is that Lucy and Desi are newlyweds. Desi is an engineer and works all over the place, making for a roaming lifestyle for the couple. They buy the trailer at Lucy's insistence so that she can make Desi a real home no matter where they are.

As they travel along Lucy picks up landscaping rocks and home canned goods, both very heavy objects which makes for a very dangerous drive through some very steep, narrow mountain passes.

7 years ago we moved from Michigan to Arizona. We packed up our house and the moving company packed it all up in their truck. We also had a garage full of motorcycles (3, 2 non running) as well as my Rick's tools. In order to move all of that we bought an 18" trailer and has several special adjustments made to it. I decided that it was our Long, Long Trailer and asked if I could pick up rocks and homemade canned goods along our way and was told no. He was right because Lucy's collection was nearly the death of her and Ricky. When we got to Flagstaff, AZ there was a full blown monsoon going on. If you have never been in one before, you don't want to be. There was one mountain that we almost didn't make up due to the amount of water on the road and the mountain was really steep.

Here's our truck and trailer all packed up and ready to leave. Ricky's car was barley big enough to pull their trailer, turned out our truck was barley big enough to pull our trailer. The bed of the truck is also packed full.

The canning jars are from Cricut's, "From My Kitchen" cartridge. The rocks are from, " Dino Play". The red heart doily came from Hobby Lobby.

I originally did a 2 page layout, this picture and a picture of the Gold Wing (orange motorcycle up there in the trailer) and it's trailer all packed up and hitched for a trip from Arizona to Michigan in 2016. I just couldn't get the 2 different trailers to meld. I think it was the baby decorations I used on it, we were riding back to Michigan for the birth of Rick's grandson.

If you're wondering what the 2nd page looked like, here it is:

That's Rick making his final preparations and those fuzzy head on the back or our lions. They have been riding with us since 2003. All of the cuts on this page are from Cricut's, "Baby Steps" cartridge.

Back in the craft room

Between family visiting and our medical emergencies life was pretty hectic and out of control for a while but I do believe that we have finally recovered.

While we were down a friend sent us a box of goodies, homemade cherry/almond cookies and banana/chocolate chip muffins. Boy was everything ever YUMMY!!

I finally got back in the craft room yesterday and made her this card.

I added the, "Thank You to the background with my Cricut and my Foil Quill. The larger, "Thank You" was done with my Silhouette and Foil Quill. I found some tips no how to fill in the letters or icons that you use and was very happy with the results.

I made an invitation to Afternoon Tea. I LOVE Afternoon Tea and find it to be one of the most relaxing things in the world.

I went with one of my old favorites and made a card in a box. I put the tea pot on an Action Wobble to make it easier to pour the tea.

The tea pot and matching tea cups are from Fun Stamper's Journey. The stacked tea cups are from Cricut's Disney Classics cartridge.
The papers are from Craft Smith.

I used my Foil Quill (BEST toy I have ever bought) to print out the where and when.

I collect tea ware, I have a rather nice collection which has grown out of it's china cabinet so one lucky commenter will win this beautiful tea cup. What do you have to do to win it? I used my Foil Quill to draw the umbrella and sentiment. The, "rain drops" are some tear shapped bling that I have had in my stash FOREVER!!!

The umbrella design is from the Amy Tangerine Design Drive and the sentiment is Cricut's Baby Steps font.

Happy Birthday Joel - 2019

My buddy Joel has a birthday coming up right after the 1st of the year. He loves Elmo and I had a lot of fun putting this together for him.

The truck file is an SVG from Simply Crafty SVG'S. Elmo is a Cricut cut.
The light blue paper needed a little something so I drew the party hats and other items using a Cricut cut (from the Celebrations cartridge?) and my Cricut pens.
I added the sentiments using the Cricut pens and the Baby Steps font.
I knew that I was going to be making it very top heavy so I cut the tires using 110 pound paper, I cut 2 sets of tires and put the second set on the inside just to give the entire thing a bit of extra stability from all of the extra weight I added to it.
I also cut the truck doors out of both craft plastic and 110 pound paper for some added strength and windows.

Penguin/Cactus Christmas Card

I had a bit of free time yesterday and I wanted to make something totally different for Christmas. So I used my Cricut to cut a cactus with the Southwest cartridge and went to work. I had planned on embossing the red layer but you know how that goes, it was already on the card before I remembered. With this weather (low 60's and sunny) it is kind of hard to think of Christmas being right around the corner.

These penguins have been in my stash for a long time, they are charms. I took the rings off of the tops and used brads to attach them to the cactus.

Papercrafter's Corner Challenge #170

There is a long story to go with this picture but I want to make a long story short so I'll just give you the Cliff Notes version.

This little guy was an emergency C-section which was followed by some very serious complications for me and more surgery. He actually went home from the hospital before I did and I wasn't able to hold him while he was in there with me.

So...this is really the first time I was able to hold him (I still has a LOT of stitches right behind where he sits on my lap), I still wasn't able to pick him up but I could hold him. He was already 2 weeks old by the time I got home.

When I saw this inspiration photo it reminded me of the day I got home from the hospital, the first thing I did was to go into his room and look at him sleeping. If I had been able to pick him up I would have but I still had a lot of healing ahead of me and an additional surgery in the near future.

I cut the letters with my Cricut and the Cricut Alphabet cartridge, the hearts are from another Cricut cartridge.

Connie Can Crop - Cyber Crop - Challenge #2

I was very busy yesterday and wasn't able to get to yesterday's Connie Can Crop - Cyber Hop - Challenge #2 which was,

For this challenge you need to make a project with a tree as the center of attention. Here is mine.

I cut this card with Cricut's, "Life is a Beach" cartridge using the palm tree square card. I cut the card at 5" and the tree toppers at 3.75 and they fit perfect.

Sentiment is from the same cartridge. Before cutting the letters I first used a Cricut pen instead of the blade and it outlined all of the letters then I put the blade back in and cut them out.

Connie Can Crop - Cyber Crop - Challenge #1

We're having a Spring Fling Cyber Crop over at Connie Can Crop. For the next 5 days there will be games to play and challenges to do.

Today's challenge is to Create a project that has something jumping off the page.
Example: Action wobble, Foam Tape, Pop Dots, 3D Fold

I used Cricut's, "Walk in my Garden" cartridge to create this card. First I put the entire card base on my mat and drew the flowers using my Cricut pens. I did not cut the flowers out, I just drew them onto the card base. I also drew on the shadow for the sentiment using Cricut's, "Cricut Font and Basic Shapes" cartridge.

Then I drew the flowers onto pink cardstock and cut them out. I layered the flowers and adhered them to the card base with foam pads.

After drawing the sentiment onto some patterned paper I cut it out and attached it to the card base with foam pads.

The butterfly is from a Hero Arts stamp and cut set. After stamping and cutting it out I attached it to the card face with glue then I popped one of the wings up.

The grass is from Cricut's, "Ribbons and Rosettes" cartridge.

Papercrafter's Corner Week #169

I really enjoyed playing along with Papercrafter's Corner Week #169 this week.

Here is this week's inspiration photo:

I was inspired by the colors, heart, chevron lines and devilish look .

The paper has been in my stash for a long time, I printed it with my Imagine when you could still get ink for them.

The heart is from Cricut's Love Struck 2010, I added the chevrons with a stencil and my eBrush which I couldn't find at first because I had cleaned the carpet in my craft room and I had stuck it in the container that holds my punches in order to get it out of my way for cleaning. That teaches me for cleaning in here. The picture is from my son's US wedding, the look on their faces is the same look David would get when he was up to no good as a youngster.

Passover

I have a friend who celebrates Passover so I made him a little card.

It isn't as nice as I wanted it to be but I couldn't help that, my Cameo went totally rogue on me and I don't have a flip card in any of my Cricut cartridges so I just did the best I could with the Cameo.

The card is a cut from the Silhouette store, the dove is from Cricut's, Beyond Birthday Cartridge. I added some bling to hopefully pretty up a little bit.

I sent tech support over at Silhouette an email and I'm wondering how long it will take them to get back to me.

Paper Crafting - Challenge - Week - 168

I found another challenge to play along with :papercrafting-challenge-week-168. When I checked out their new challenge at the beginning of the week I wanted to take part but it took me all week to come up with the prefect idea.

My son and wonderful daughter in law live in Tokyo, Japan. They had these postcards made up to ring in the New Year which is actually the Year of the Rooster but the kids have dubbed it, "the year of the fried chicken". They had this caricature made and it looks SO much like the two of them.
Here is a picture taken at their Japanese wedding so that you can see the real them. They are entertaining their guests with a song and dance routine.

This is the inspiration photo. I just love the beautiful colors and I wanted to use some of the Japanese crafting papers the kids have brought or sent me over the years.

The background paper is very thin so I adhered it to a piece of chipboard to give it some strength.

I scanned the postcard and printed it as a 5 x 7. I added some red ribbon to the top and bottom of the picture then attached the picture to a piece of yellow cardstock that I had embossed with a Honeycomb folder. I cut the letters with my Cricut and their Robotz cartridge.

The background paper and the little Japanese figures are all gifts from my kids.

My project is a bit of a tongue in cheek long time family thing. To make a short story shorter, one day when my son was napping I made a stuffed skunk and when he woke up, he grabbed it and named him, "Mr. Skunk"  and they were BFF's until David grew up. All I could think of while I was cutting the black and white skunk was the song, "Puttin' on the Ritz" so............I decided to go with pictures of my son and I putting each other's flowers on for his US wedding. I found a ceramic skunk ring bearer, if you look close you can see it behind the glass.

Cricut's Animal Kingdom (skunk border)
Cricut's Gypsy Font
Craftwell - Cabbage Rose embossing folder
