Upcycled Bottle

Blog Quick Quotes is having an upcycle challenge this month. I had this empty bottle to play with and had a lot of fun playing with it.

 

Acrylic paint doesn't stick real well to glass on it's own so I asked my BFF Renee who is a decorative painter, designer, etc. over at Plum Purdy  (she owns it too) how to get around that and she told me that I needed to first put a coat of paint adhesion medium on the bottle. She very kindly sent me a bottle from her inventory.

 

After sponging the medium on, I made puddles of purple, cream, blue and sunflower paints and sponged them on in a bit of a mish mash. When that coat dried I went over it again with the blue and cream then again with the purple and cream paints.

 

When the paint was dry I added a layer of Mod Podge then added some bling from Zva Creative, flowers from Queen and Co. and a bow using ribbon from my stash.

 

The flowers were cut using Cricut's Mother's Day cartridge, I hot glued them to floral wire and added some leaves I cut using one of my punches.

I needed a gift box so I pulled out my Cricut Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2 and my Ribbons and Rosettes cartridges to create this for my April PDE Linky Party project where the challenges are ALWAYS, "Anything Goes" if you made it, you can post it.

 

The stripped paper is from Quick Quotes, the rest are from my stash.

 

I used my Ciruct pens to outline the Happy Birthday and the off white layer on the border.

 

The bling is from Zva Creative.

Unity Be Inspired Challenge: May 14 - June 10

There are a few different avenues to follow for your project for this challenge, I decided to go with the color challenge.

 

I started with a 5 x 7 card base to which I adhered a piece of Core Impressions from Core'dinations. This is the type of paper that you can tear, sand or use it as is, it is also embossed. You can't see it from this picture but I did sand the paper. This close up of the embossing and sanding shows the sanding on the embossed ridges.

 

The stamped panel is an itty Bitty stamp from Unity: WIB - 858 Smile in Your Heart. I won this a couple of weeks ago from a Funday Friday giveaway.

 

Before stamping the image onto watercolor paper, first I colored the paper with a watercolor dot that I received when I placed an order for a different Unity stamp a few weeks ago, they always put a little something extra into your order.

 

When the watercolor had dried I stamped the image with Tim Holtz Distress Ink - chipped sapphire then I did a die cut using a Spellbinder's Nestabilities set I won thanks to Alicia at Golden Goddess Designs, Spellbinders and facebook. I also embossed the die cut.

 

I added some washi tape that my son and his fabulous/wonderful wife  sent me from Japan (they live in Tokyo), some bling from Zva Creative and a few pearls and Queen and Co. Goosebumps from my stash.

Angel Love Tags - Ewe-N-Me Printables Blog Hop

Deena made this cute file for me to work with:

 

Angel Love Tags: you get 6 tags total, 3 each of 2 different sizes. I used the larger size for my Valentine card.

 

 

I cut out the tag and inked the edges with black StazOn ink, I also cut a background layer for it and also inked that edge. I punched a hole in the top and added my twine.

 

For the background I made a mask and sprayed it with a peach Tombow marker and my eBrush.

 

I added a piece of washi tape to the bottom (my kids in Tokyo sent it to me). I cut the peach heart with my Cuttlebug and Sizzix Primitive Hearts #2. The bling is from Zva Creative. The tag is attached with foam squares.

This hop will run for three days Feb. 6th, 7th and 8th, 2015

Afternoon Tea Invitation

I had a lot of fun playing with this file from Ewe-N-Me Printables, I am a lifetime tea drinker and while living in Michigan one of my favorite things to do was to meet a friend for afternoon tea in some of Michigan's quaint tea rooms.

 

My first idea was to print up the envelopes, assemble them and try to arrange them in my doll's sandbox where a tea party goes on all the time. I also collect dolls, tea ware (mostly English bone china but I also have a few pieces from Japan).  But I really miss having afternoon tea so I made an invitation to afternoon tea at my home.

 

 

There are several different designs to choose from, I really like the Victorian/vintage look of this one. Tea Thyme Tea Bag Envelopes . You get two tea bag envelopes on each sheet, you just cut them out, fold on the lines and assemble.
 

 

After assembling my envelopes I made a mask with the dots in it and sprayed the cream colored paper with my eBrush then I trimmed it to the size I wanted, 4 1/4" wide (when folded) x 6" tall. I added a piece of washi tape from my son and his wife in Tokyo.

 

The bling swirl is from Zva Creative, I printed the sentiment onto a piece of vellum using my printer, I layered the vellum on to a piece of blue and adhered it to the card with foam pads. I also used foam pads to adhere the tea bag envelope and I tied a piece of twine along the folded edge.

 

 

Please excuse the rock, it was windy and I couldn't get it to stay open so I could get pictures. Here is the other side of the envelope, I used it on the inside to hold the menu.

 

 

If I was really having a tea party I would enclose a copy of the menu so if anyone being invited has an allergy to anything I'm preparing they can let me know so I also included one here. The inner piece is vellum, I attached it to the card with the twine, the menu is also printed on vellum. I would also send along a sample of one of the teas that are being served, putting it in the envelope on the front.

Love is in the Air

When I first choose this Printable I really didn't know what I was going to do with it but I think that it's super cute so I wanted to work with it. Love is in the Air Cocoa Envelope

 

 

A few days after getting the file I received a package from my kids in Tokyo which contained several packages of Japanese crafting/origami papers, stickers and chocolates filled with cognac and apple brandy. This beautiful print was perfect for the Printable and a Valentine card was made.

 

 

I love the Eiffel Tower stamps on this print as well as the vintage postcard look. I did downsize the cocoa envelope a little to fit on the card. The swirl bling is from Zva Creative and the hearts are from Queen and Co., I added a piece of twine to the fold and the card was done. The Love is in the Air cocoa envelope can also hold a gift card, book of love coupons, etc.

My son and his beautiful wife sent me the printed paper, the sent me several different packages of Japanese crafting/origami papers. I used colored pencils to color the image.

No sentiment as yet because I don't know what I'm going to use it for yet. If the kids do come down with the chicken pox I'll probably send it to them.

I ran into this design online last week and decided to give this Vertical Step Card and decided to give it a try.

 

Recipe:

 

 The base directions and template are at the end of this post. After I cut the card base and made my steps, I cut the letters with my Cuttlebug as well as the stars, cake and vellum envelope.
The flowers are from Queen and Co., I picked them up at the 2012 Great Lakes Mega Meet, I added a center with my green Stickles. I did make a mistake with the layering and rick rack, I should have layered the papers and added the rick rack before adding to the card base.
I also added some green and white Stickles to the cake.
The pink bling swirl is from Zva Creative.
The butterflies are from Melissa Francis (from the same Mega Meet), I used my green TomBow marker and eBrush to color them.

 

These directions are from a non English speaking blog, the translation is from Google.

 

 

 

Path of Positivity Challenge #21 - Guest Designer

I'm a Guest Designer this month at Path of Positivity this month's theme is Faith. I'm very honored to have been asked to take part in this challenge.
  For the start of the challenge I decided to use this design from: Fresh Brewed Designs  the simple beauty of the image really drew me to it.

 

I used my Tombow markers to color the design then I chomped my corners with my corner chomper and layered the image onto a piece of red glitter paper. I printed my sentiment with my printer, chomped the corners and layered it onto red glitter paper. I added some Zva Creative bling and a piece of green twine. My card base is from My Mind's Eye. I also chomped the corners of the card base.

The reason I chose this image and sentiment is because

the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is the Holiest day of the year.  Whatever your own personal beliefs, it is important to have faith in your life.  The idea of believing in something that you can't tangibly see or hear, like love for example, helps to give us hope; and, we could all do with a little more hope.

For my midway post which will be posted on December 15th, I chose an image from: Pickled-Potpourri .

I had so much fun with my DCWV papers that I made 2 projects this week. It was cold here in Arizona when I started working on this and I wanted to feel warm so I went with a summer theme for my first project.

Side Step Card

Every single piece of paper is from one of my DCWV stacks or another.

 

The scrapbook papers are all from my La Boutique Vintage Stack. I actually won this Stack online. Do you ever get emails from DCWV asking you to take part in their survey and you might win a Stack? If you do, there really IS a chance to win a prize.

 

 

 

My bling is from Zva Creative and my pictures are from this year's Mohave County Fair. I decided that the Midway pictures would be perfect for these Ferris wheel sheets.

For this card I used papers from:

I used a Cuttlebug die to cut out the tree then embossed it with my Delicate Dots folder then I colored the dots with a gold marker, wrapped the tree with some Tim Holtz Tinsel Twine. I cut the star with my star dies from My Creative Time.

The ornaments on the first step were fussy cut from a sheet in the Mrs. Claus's Kitchen Stack.

I stamped the trees onto a piece of glitter paper using StazOn ink then I cut them out when the ink dried.

Merry Christmas was fussy cut from a page in the paper Holiday Collection The Christmas stack and backed with a piece of gold glitter paper from the glitter stack.

I adhered everything to the card using foam pads.

 We are at the midway point for our color challenge using these fabulous fall colors. You need to use at least 3 of these colors for this challenge.

Today I had the Creative Bug on the Loose: Giving Thanks image to work with.

 

 I printed the image then colored it using colored pencils then I layered it onto a piece of burlap. The bling is from Zva Creative and the sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Happy Thanksgiving stamp set.

 

Dates for this challenge are: November 5 – December 2

Sadly this will be our last challenge.

 



Prizes for this challenge are:

 

Five digital images from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for a person chosen in a random draw based on all eligible entrants.

An additional prize of three images will be presented to a random winner who has used a CBD image in their project.  In theory, that means that if you use a CBD image, you could win a total of eight images!

Guest Designer at My Craft Spot

Hi, Sue from Sue's Paper Crafts here. I am so honored to be a Guest Designer for a day today here at My Craft Spot .

With Thanksgiving just around the corner I chose the, "Happy Thanksgiving" stamp set to play with. When the set arrived I couldn't stop at the 2 projects that Kimberly requested, I wanted to showcase as many of these wonderful stamps as I could.

I know it's a little late to be sending out invitations for Thanksgiving Dinner but these stamps are perfect for them.

 

 

 I used 3 of the stamps for the invitation, "Sharing the Harvest", "What's Cooking" and "May the Bounty of the Season Fill Your Heart and Home". I cut the turkey with my Cricut and My Community cartridge, the turkey's background is cut from a piece of paper I embossed using my eBosser and the Swirltangle embossing folder, I used foam pads to adhere the turkey to the background.

I stamped the sentiments on vellum and embossed them with gold embossing powder, then I backed them with a piece of cream paper that had been sprayed with some Tattered Angels - Coffee Shop and adhered them to the card with foam pads.

I used the 3rd stamp on the inside and printed the event using my printer and Photoshop.

Added a few Imaginisce jewels and a piece of twine to finish it off. 

For my second card I wanted to use the, "Falling For You" stamp, it goes perfectly with my falling leaves paper.

 

I started with a Kraft base for my card, added the falling leaf paper, stamped the sentiment on Kraft paper then layered it with a piece of red/rust and put a piece of burlap behind it. I punched a few leaves with some very thin craft metal and a couple of sequins on the upper corner. I also added some twine and a button.

 

My third card is a, "Happy Thanksgiving" card.

 

 

The card base is a mustard color, I layered it with a piece with Thanksgiving and fall type decorations, added a piece of ribbon and my bling swirl is from Zva Creative, "Happy Thanksgiving" stamp and some Imaginisce bling.

 



 My 4th card was a bit of a challenge, I had received card from a pen pal and wanted to copy it because I like the design. After she sent me the basic measurements I went to work making an SVG. I need to tweak my SVG a bit but I'm fairly happy with the results.

I did my SVG cut, added some fall color printed paper to the, "flip" part and a piece of Zva Bling.

 

Open Card

 

I stamped the back ground for my top layer with the, "So Blessed to Have You in my Life" stamp and added some gold Stickles. Stamped the, "When I Count my Blessings I Count You Twice" stamp and layered it onto a piece of burlap.

 

The sentiments in this set are so perfect that the cards pretty much make themselves.
