Happy Thanksgiving

It is almost turkey time again. I'm not cooking this year, kind of silly to cook for just 2 of us so we will be going out for dinner.

My October Spellbinder's Glimmer KOM was perfect for this card.

The pumpkin and leaves are from my Glimmer kit, it is really hard to see but the pumpkin and leaves have been hot foiled then cut out with my Gemini Jr. The sunflower bling is from Queen and Co., other bling is from my stash as is the Washi tape (also has foil accents) and I used my Cricut and their Art Nouverau Cartridge and Foil Quill for the sentiment.

I thought the colors were perfect for Thanksgiving cards.

I used Cricut's Create A Critter cartridge for the turkey. I added some googly eyes because I love googly eyes. I made a few of them to send to family and friends.

A bit of washi tape on the fold edge, computer generated sentiment and a couple of jewels.

Herbie's 1st Thanksgiving

The other day I saw the funniest little Thanksgiving bib and we picked it up for my guy's grandson's 1st Thanksgiving. You can't just send the bib, you have to send along a card so I made him a box card on a smaller scale.

For anyone who has made a card in a box before, this one is a little smaller here are the measurements:

Cut cardstock to 7 1/2"x9 1/4". Score at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8" and 8 1/2". Rotate the cardstock to the left.Cutoff 2". Cut the 2" strip at 3 5/8" and cut in half lengthwise as above for the inside tabs. On the card base, score at 2 1/2" and cut down to the score lines. Assemble as usual.

DSP sizes are as follows:
5. 1/4" x 2" - one patterned and one white/neutral for the back.
1 7/8" x 2 1/4" - six of these.
2 3/4" x 1 7/8" - 3 of these.

Sentiment from a stamp set I have had for a few years from My Craft Spot's, "Happy Thanksgiving" set.

World Card Making Day - Challenge #1

Sketch and Scrap is celebrating World Card Making Day with 3 challenges.

Here is my take on the first challenge:

For the Fall card I made the background by stamping the paper with various leaf stamps from Unity Stamp's, "Grateful Hearts" kit. The 2 leaves on top I stamped using the same set and fussy cut them out. The sentiment is from the same set.

For the Christmas card I used papers from Craft Smith and die cuts from Spellbinder's, "Mix -n- Match Ornaments".

CHALLENGE NUMBER ONE: Using the this sketch create TWO cards with a SEASONAL THEME (Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall). Your card can be for any occasion (birthday, thank you etc.) but the papers and supplies used to create you card must be seasonally themed (i.e. leaves for Fall, snowflakes for Winter, Christmas tree for Winter) Each card must represent a different season and you please include BOTH cards in ONE photo.

World Card Making Day Challenge #1

Thanksgiving Place Cards & Autumn Note Cards

I have been having fun with more of Deena's Printables.
 
I started off with this Thanksgiving Collage file:
 

 

You get 6 images in 2 sizes for a total of 12images and you can print as many as you need.

 

 
It was very easy to make place cards for my Thanksgiving table.
 

 

I used some leftover letters to add my name, of course I could have picked a color that shows up better.



 

 

After cutting out the 6 large images I inked the edges then cut Kraft paper backings a little bigger than the images and layered them together.

 

For the bottom part I used a leftover place setting from my son's wedding as a pattern then added as I needed to make my images fit then I scored them down the middle and folded in half. I used double sided tape to attach the images to the I guess easel part and added some sequins for a little shine.

 

Next I made up some note cards using this file:

 

 

 

You get 3 each of 3 different images for a total of 9 images and you can print as many as you need.

 

 

Once again after cutting out the images I inked the edges. Then I cut the card bases which I decorated using a stencil and colored pencil for the little blocks on the top and bottom of the cards.

 

I cut Kraft paper and wrapped them with ribbon, attached to the card fronts then I layered the images on top with foam pads. I also chomped the corners.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!

Today I am having fun with these Thanksgiving Post Cards - Printable Hang Tags:

 

 
You get 2 of each design for a total of 8 hang tags and you can print as many as you need.
 

 

After printing and cutting out the images I layered them onto burlap, then attached them to the card bases and added some sequins.

 

These make really cute Thanksgiving Cards, invitations to Thanksgiving dinner, a set of note cards for the hostess are my top ideas.

 

Then I got out these cute bookmarks, when I was a little girl I always wanted Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls, Santa never brought me any but now I have these super cute tags to play with.

 

 

 

 

 

These were REALLY easy, all you need to do is print the images, cut them out, ink the edges if you like then layer them onto coordinating papers, the papers I used are all scraps. Punch a hole, add an eyelet if you like (my eyelets would not play nice with me so I didn't use any) and add a piece of twine.

 

Not only are these cute bookmarks, they would also be great tags for gifts and place settings for Thanksgiving dinner, putting the guest's names on the backs. 

 

 

 

 





 

Note cards & Tic Tac Toe

Once again, I have two projects for today. The first one is a note card from this file:
 

 

 
This was so fast and easy to do, it wouldn't take very long at all to make up a set as a hostess gift as you are running out the door.

 

 



 After printing and cutting the note card and envelope out, I inked my edges then I added some leaves using a small leaf stamp from my stash, some shinny leaf  confetti and a piece of twine on the edge.

 

These would be useful for several different things, Thanksgiving dinner invitations, my favorite, tea party invitations, hostess gifts, actually a gift for any occasion.

 
Next I had more bottle cap fun, using up some more of these Fall Pockets bottle cap images from last month.
 

 

 

I wanted to make a Tic Tac Toe game that can go wherever you do. I left the outside a little bland. I started with a Silhouette file for the box, cutting the top, bottom and insert with my Cameo. I printed the, "Tic Tac Toe" with my Cricut.
 

 

I added the grid lines with my Cricut using Sure Cuts a Lot to trace a picture of the grid which I found online.

 



 

I cut the images out, inked the edges then adhered them to the inside of the bottle caps then I coated the entire inside of the caps with Glossy Accents. I made 5 scarecrow pieces and 5 cactus pieces. All of the pieces fit inside making it easier to find them and to take them along wherever you go.
 

I have two projects this week, Ewe-N-Me Printables has so many wonderful fall printables that I have a hard time deciding on which ones to work with and this week I came up with 2 different files and projects.
 
First up is a Fall shaker card that I made using this darling Fall Pockets file. There are 5 different bottle cap images, you get 6 of each image. These cut out very easily with a 1" circle punch. 
 

 
 
After printing and cutting out my bottle caps I inked the edges.
 

 
I used a sheet of Kraft paper for the card base. I put two leaf stamps on the same stamping block and used red and green inks on them. I stamped the background, including the piece that I used for the shaker element. I laid that piece directly onto the Kraft paper and stamped them both at the same time.
 
The, "Fabulous Fall" sentiment is a Cricut cut and I used Cricut's Fancy Frames cartridge to cut the shaker layers. I cut 6 layers using empty cereal boxes and glued them together to form the frame for the card. I also cut a piece of clear acetate for the window and another piece of cereal box for the base of the shaker element.
 
After assembling the shaker element and letting the layers dry thoroughly (overnight) I added the bottle cap images and some sequins before adhering the clear acetate and top frame.
 
For a finishing touch I added a piece of green twine to the fold.
 
Then I got to work using the Small Farmhouse Labels - Turkey Labels.
 

 

 

I am a firm believer that the bigger the mess I make, the more fun I am having. These Thanksgiving Gift Boxes definitely lived up to that. You get 3 each of 3 different sizes and labels for a total of 9 labels, 3 large, 3 medium and 3 small.

 



 

 

I have had these paper Mache boxes for quite a while, looking for the right project to use them.

 

The first step was to give all of the boxes a couple of coats of Gesso, the Gesso seals the paper Mache making it easier for the paint to cover more evenly. 

 

 
 
After giving all of the boxes a couple coats of Gesso and paint I cut doilies to fit the tops using water color paper then I painted the doilies to mix and match the boxes. After the paint dried I added some twine and glued them to the tops of the boxes. I used the large label on the large box, medium on the medium box and small on the small box. I inked the edges of the labels then layered them onto pieces of black card stock and adhered them to the tops of the boxes with foam tape.
 

 
 
I also painted some wooden buttons from Plum Purdy, added twine and adhered them below the labels.
 
 

 

 

I also added a piece of ribbon around the bottom of the boxes.



 

 

These would make great Hostess Gift Boxes for Thanksgiving or to put Thanksgiving type munchies into before gifting them to a friend.

Fallen Hues Colour Challenge #7 - Midway Post.

 We are at the midway point for our color challenge using these fabulous fall colors. You need to use at least 3 of these colors for this challenge.

Today I had the Creative Bug on the Loose: Giving Thanks image to work with.

 

 I printed the image then colored it using colored pencils then I layered it onto a piece of burlap. The bling is from Zva Creative and the sentiment is from My Craft Spot's Happy Thanksgiving stamp set.

 

Dates for this challenge are: November 5 – December 2

Sadly this will be our last challenge.

 



Prizes for this challenge are:

 

Five digital images from Creative Bug Digital SnapShots for a person chosen in a random draw based on all eligible entrants.

An additional prize of three images will be presented to a random winner who has used a CBD image in their project.  In theory, that means that if you use a CBD image, you could win a total of eight images!

A top three will also be chosen (as long as there are a minimum of seven people entering).  Each person in the top three will also get to choose an image from the store.

Guest Designer at My Craft Spot

Hi, Sue from Sue's Paper Crafts here. I am so honored to be a Guest Designer for a day today here at My Craft Spot .

With Thanksgiving just around the corner I chose the, "Happy Thanksgiving" stamp set to play with. When the set arrived I couldn't stop at the 2 projects that Kimberly requested, I wanted to showcase as many of these wonderful stamps as I could.

I know it's a little late to be sending out invitations for Thanksgiving Dinner but these stamps are perfect for them.

 

 

 I used 3 of the stamps for the invitation, "Sharing the Harvest", "What's Cooking" and "May the Bounty of the Season Fill Your Heart and Home". I cut the turkey with my Cricut and My Community cartridge, the turkey's background is cut from a piece of paper I embossed using my eBosser and the Swirltangle embossing folder, I used foam pads to adhere the turkey to the background.

I stamped the sentiments on vellum and embossed them with gold embossing powder, then I backed them with a piece of cream paper that had been sprayed with some Tattered Angels - Coffee Shop and adhered them to the card with foam pads.

I used the 3rd stamp on the inside and printed the event using my printer and Photoshop.

Added a few Imaginisce jewels and a piece of twine to finish it off. 

For my second card I wanted to use the, "Falling For You" stamp, it goes perfectly with my falling leaves paper.

 

I started with a Kraft base for my card, added the falling leaf paper, stamped the sentiment on Kraft paper then layered it with a piece of red/rust and put a piece of burlap behind it. I punched a few leaves with some very thin craft metal and a couple of sequins on the upper corner. I also added some twine and a button.

 

My third card is a, "Happy Thanksgiving" card.

 

 

The card base is a mustard color, I layered it with a piece with Thanksgiving and fall type decorations, added a piece of ribbon and my bling swirl is from Zva Creative, "Happy Thanksgiving" stamp and some Imaginisce bling.

 



 My 4th card was a bit of a challenge, I had received card from a pen pal and wanted to copy it because I like the design. After she sent me the basic measurements I went to work making an SVG. I need to tweak my SVG a bit but I'm fairly happy with the results.

I did my SVG cut, added some fall color printed paper to the, "flip" part and a piece of Zva Bling.

I stamped the back ground for my top layer with the, "So Blessed to Have You in my Life" stamp and added some gold Stickles. Stamped the, "When I Count my Blessings I Count You Twice" stamp and layered it onto a piece of burlap.

 

The sentiments in this set are so perfect that the cards pretty much make themselves.
