Christmas in July

When I saw these snow globe ornaments over at Plum Purdy  I just had to get a few to make some snow globe shaker ornaments.

After I painted the ornaments I stamped some snowflakes then I cut 8 layers of 120 lb. cardstock to create the shaker portion for each one, as well as a piece of acetate and the top, "frame".

I had a lot of fun with this project. I started with an file from SVG Cutting Files. After making a couple of alterations to come up with the design I wanted I cut it out. I had to cut additional, "frames" in order to build up my shaker box.

The background of the shaker area was created with my Gelli Plate, after the paint dried I stamped some snowflakes with a stamp from Plum Purdy and added a diamond jewel to each snowflake and then I added some now flake confetti.

You can't really see it in the pictures but I dry embossed the bottom portion of the snow globe with a snow flake embossing folder.

Connie Can Crop - Cyber Crop - Birds & Bees

Today is day 5 of Connie Can Crop's Cyber Crop and I just finished my project for day 4, the theme is:

You need to make a project that features birds and/or bees. My card has both.

 The stamp set I used came from Plum Purdy.com. First I stamped my image using my We R Memory Keepers Precision Press. The tiny stamps came from a really old set in my stash, I can't remember who made them.

I colored the image using color pencils then I layered it onto a scrap of dark blue and choose a scrap of stripped paper to use for my card base.

Now for my project.

 

I call this my, "Bottle of Cheer". I started with an empty Triple Sec bottle and painted it. The first step to painting glass is to give it a good coat of Paint Adhesion Medium first. I have not been able to find this item locally, I got it from Plum Purdy.  It is listed under the "sealers and mediums" link. The best way to apply it is with a sponge.

 

 

I also used a sponge to apply the paint in a variety of different colors.

 

The stamped, "centers" of my flowers are from Unity Stamp Co., their, "feel better soon" kit. After stamping my sentiments I cut them out using my Spellbinder's circle and scalloped circle dies. I also cut the other layers of the, "flowers" using bigger scalloped circle dies. The papers are Japanese craft papers that my kids brought me. I used wooden skewers painted green for my, "stems". Added a die cut butterfly and a bow to finish it off.

Jo's Scrap Shack # 165 - Color Challenge

Today we have a color challenge for you at Jo's Scrap Shack. You need to use brown, green and yellow with a chance for a bonus prize if you use a turkey.

I was given the, "Christmas Presents" digi from Robyn's Fetish to work with so I got into my way, way, way back machine and found this picture from Christmas past (1956) and created a layout.

 

That's Grandpa with the half a head, my older brother behind the monkey and me.  

 

 

 After printing out the digi from Robyn's Fetish I colored the images with colored pencils and fussy cut them out. On the present with holly I added some red jewels for the berries, the middle present I added some pearls.

The tree is from Cricut's, "Winter Woodland" cartridge and I decorated it with some charms and brads from my stash. The background paper and green paper on the tree are from Craft Smith and the snowflakes are from Plum Purdy.

Herbie's 1st Thanksgiving

The other day I saw the funniest little Thanksgiving bib and we picked it up for my guy's grandson's 1st Thanksgiving. You can't just send the bib, you have to send along a card so I made him a box card on a smaller scale.

I put an action wobble on the turkey:

For anyone who has made a card in a box before, this one is a little smaller here are the measurements:

Cut cardstock to 7 1/2"x9 1/4". Score at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8" and 8 1/2". Rotate the cardstock to the left.Cutoff 2". Cut the 2" strip at 3 5/8" and cut in half lengthwise as above for the inside tabs. On the card base, score at 2 1/2" and cut down to the score lines. Assemble as usual.

DSP sizes are as follows:
5. 1/4" x 2" - one patterned and one white/neutral for the back.
1 7/8" x 2 1/4" - six of these.
2 3/4" x 1 7/8" - 3 of these.

Turkey, "Gobble, Gobble" and pumpkins cut from Cricut's Create a Critter cartridge.
Sentiment from a stamp set I have had for a few years from My Craft Spot's, "Happy Thanksgiving" set.
Scrolled bling is from Zva Creative.

Butterflies, Checkerboard and Cyan

I have been having a lot of  fun with this card, the challenge I made it for calls for you to use a butterfly, checkerboard and the color cyan.

 

I started with a scrap of heavy white cardstock and painted it cyan. After the paint dried I used a checkerboard stencil from Plum Purdy.com and texture paste to create my checkerboard.

 

The butterfly was cut with my Cuttlebug, it is hard to see it in the picture, there is a layer of cyan under the white butterfly. I also embossed the butterfly and added some gold sequins.

 

I stamped the sentiment with cyan ink onto ink on white and layered it onto a piece of cyan cardstock. I added the ribbon and used foam pads to adhere the sentiment to the card face.

 

The card base is white and embossed with a basket weave embossing folder.

Happy Halloween

I actually managed to make a few Halloween cards but will I manage to mail them all out in time? :):)

This is a Small Folding Pocket Card, the directions are at the bottom. They have a cute little bookmark that goes into the pocket.

 

 

 Here are all 4 of them, all folded up and ready to mail.

Pumpkin, broom, sentiment and cat stamps are all from Plum Purdy, she no longer sells stamps and I was very lucky go get the ones I have.

Background stamps - on ghost page is a Unity stamp and the one on the bookmark is from Prima Marketing.

Backgrounds all colored with Gelatos.  

Happy Birthday Lana

I am sooooooooooooo EXCITED!!!! I entered 3 cards into the Mohave County Fair and all 3 of them are Blue Ribbon winners. I'll post pictures after I pick them up from the fairgrounds Tuesday evening.

Today I have a birthday card that I made for my pen pal Lana in Montana. Now I'm hoping that she doesn't peek at my blog before her birthday.

 

I ran the card base though my eBosser using my Teresa Collins Honeycomb folder.

 

The flower basket stamp is from Plum Purdy, I have had the stamp for 3 years, Renee no longer designs or sells stamps.

 

The, "Happy Birthday" stamp has been in my stash for about 10 years I think. I picked it up at a street fair in Michigan.

 

I inked up the edges on the stamped layers and added some jewels to the corners.

Halloween in June

My gal pal Renee from Plum Purdy found this cute little Vintage Postcard Kit in her crafty stash and sent it to me. It comes with 6 postcards and 8 Halloween stamps, 12 embellishments and 18 chipboard pieces.

 

There are several things you can make with these, I decided to make a Halloween banner.

 



I used all of the stamps and all of the included embellishments as well as some bling from my stash but I didn't use any of the chipboard pieces, I added them to my stash to use another time.

 

Free Time Fun

June has arrived and all of my design team projects are wrapped up so I have had some free time to play with my toys.

Last summer I spent some time visiting my BFF in South Carolina and helped her out with a trade show in Columbus, OH she is the world famous decorative painter, Renee Mullins from Plum Purdy.

To make a long story short, she ended up giving me her brand new Cameo, I used a Lori Whitlock file from the Silhouette Store to create this shadow box.

 

About the same time I also won a facebook giveaway from Docrafts and I have been wanting to use the Docrafts toys to make this shadow box ever since then.

 

All of the papers on the inner boxes are from the Docrafts collection as are the cat images and if you can see my stamping so the little cat footprints.

 

This shadow box is far from perfect, I need to get some heavier paper and better glue before I make my next one. I live in the middle of nowhere on the way to nowhere, the closest place to buy craft supplies is Jo Ann's which is about 45 miles away. I hope to be able to stop in to find what I need to make another shadow box when we do our Sam's Club shopping this month.

PDE Linky Party - May 2016

I can't believe how fast my time on the PDE Linky Party  design team has gone, it must be my age the older I get the faster time seems to fly.

 

As usual this week's challenge is Anything Goes.

 

I have really been enjoying painting decorative birdhouses.

 

After adding 2 coats of Gesso I painted the roof and bottom 2 coats of yellow and the house itself with 2 coats of orange.

 

The crows are from Plum Purdy.
