Blue and Silver

Did anyone else ever have one of those silver Christmas trees with the turning color wheel? Sadly my family had one so that will tell you were I got the idea for this card from.

I really tried to get the, "sparkle" to show up in the pictures.

 

 

The blue papers are from my stash, the snowflake and silver tree are from a Craft Smith paper pad.

 

I added small blue jewels to the middles of the snowflakes and blue sequins for the bulbs on my tree. I cut the tree with my Cricut and the Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge. The star is a die from my stash.

Pile It On

Advent Calendar

It is a little late to create one of these but it's never too early to think about next year, is it? I like to give credit where credit where is due, the original idea came from Jo Ann's Website.

 

 

My base is a 4 1/2" square of wood which I painted green.

 



 

Instead of using the pre-made boxes in the original directions, I cut 25 boxes with my Cricut using the Wrap it Up cartridge and the cut for the car box @ 7" (you know how cuts are in Cricutland).

 

 

 

All of the papers are from Craft Smith's Homemade Holiday and Timeless Holiday paper pads.

 

After assembling the boxes I cut the numbers with Cricut's Designer Calendar cartridge using the boxed feature and cutting @ 1.6 inches out of dark green vinyl. I also added some sequins to each box.

 

For each level of boxes, the boxes are glued together with a glue gun as you can see in the 2nd picture above. The bottom layer of boxes is also glued to the wood base but all of the other layers are just glued box to box but not the layers. That is so that you can take the upper layers off so that you can access the boxes to open them up.

 

I die cut 3 stars then scored down the middles and glued together so they form a 3D star.

 

Fill with candy or verses, maybe both.

 

The layers are:

 

Bottom 2 - 6 boxes in each layer

3rd row up - 5 boxes

4th row up - 4 boxes

5th row up - 3 boxes

Top row - 1 box

 

 

 





 

Sillhouete Challenges - Showcase #36

I received an Amazon gift card for Christmas and used it to buy some Silhouette Sketch Pens which I used to create this card. When you buy the pens you get a download card for I think it was 10 sketch pen images which are pre-chosen by Silhouette.

 

The umbrella was one of the free images. First I took out the Cameo blade and replaced it with one of the pens AND there is a setting in the software to tell it that you are using a pen instead of a blade. After drawing the umbrella I left the mat in the machine, took out the pen and replaced it with the blade and choosing the, "Cut Edge" option. It cut a bit more than I expected it to (it almost detached the center section of the umbrella) but I was able to work with it. I adhered the umbrella with foam pads.

 

Adding the sequins I ended up with an Arizona monsoon.

 

The sentiment is just one of the fonts on my computer. I used the same technique to first draw than cut the sentiment but the drawing part was cut by the blade but the letters were still useable so I used them.

 

 
This is the inside, printed on vellum. The flower was also one of the download images. I used the same font on the inside as I did on the outside.

On the last one I had attempted to draw directly on the inside of the card. I didn't have the right colors for it to show up good enough that is why I went with the vellum instead.

Happy Blogaversary Taunya

My bloggy friend Taunya is celebrating her 4th Blogaversary this month. As part of the celebration she posted this picture:

 

And asked her followers to make her a card using this picture as inspiration.

 

I used the daisy and colors:

 

 

Opps...that darned sequin center that fell off, I reattached it after taking the pictures.

 

I used the my pop up die set from Stampendous, I opted to not use the 3 pop-ups in the middle section so I covered them with several layers of the blue painter's tape.

 

All of the daises are from Cricut's Mickey and Friends cartridge, the vase is from Art Nouveau. I used white cardstock for the daises and colored them with my eBrush. The bling is from Zva Creative.

I used my image on the inside, it was the perfect size for my 2nd favorite toy that I picked up while at HOOT 2 weeks ago. Stampendous was in the house so I just had to go over and see what I could see and I fell in love with this die set.

 

I saw this die and wanted it but I didn't want to buy the, "go with" items, the stamp and die set they sell so I went back to Renee's Plum Purdy booth and thought on it for a while. Then I went back and asked if I had to buy the, "go with" items and was told that I could use any flowers with it so I snatched it up.

 

This tutorial was a huge help to me: Stampendous Tutorial  and I set to work with the sponsor image as the centerpiece of my Pop-Up.

 

 

 

The papers are from Craft Smith's Christmasville paper pad. All of the snowflake stamps are from my stash as well as all of the sentiments.

 

You get:

(1) pop-up card die

(4) 4 nesting oval frame dies

(4) nesting rectangular frame dies

(3) edger dies

 

I used all but 1 of the edger dies on this card.

 

After printing the, "You Light Up My Life Snowman" stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps on white cardstock, I also printed it onto a piece of light blue paper. I colored the image with watercolor pencils that I picked up while we were at HOOT. The snowflakes are from my stash, they were white, I added the color to them with a blue Spectrum Noir marker and my eBrush.

 

Using the pop-up card die I then used one of the edger dies to give it a fancy edge. I also cut the same cut onto a piece of blue cardstock. Stamped the snowflakes with a dark blue ink and used the oval frame dies on the inside sentiments, and 2 of the rectangular frame dies on the outside sentiment, added some sequins and Stickles. I attached the outer sentiment with foam pads.

Red and white paper is from Craft Smith. I colored my image using red and blue colored pencils, added the sentiment and stamped some snowflakes. I used blue and white beads and blue sequins in my shaker element.

Yes, love IS in the air my longtime feller and I will be getting hitched this summer and I thought that this image would be prefect for the cover of our mini wedding album. I made a card this time but it just may be used again for our album.

 

 

 

I definitely need someone to push my reset button, I just can't seem to get away from using blue, blue and more blue. All of my papers are scraps again but that darned pile doesn't seem to be getting smaller yet.

 

I printed and colored the image, backed it with a piece of light blue trimmed with the wavy blade for my Your Story trimmer. The card base was already scored and folded, just the right size for this project. I added a blue butterfly from my stash, a few sequins and Imaginisce jewels, a piece of twine, chomped my corners and the card is ready for whatever I decided to use it for.

I really haven't had much of a chance to use blue in my crafting until recently and now I seem to be on a roll with it. It is my favorite color so someone might have to come by and push my, "reset" button to get me to use a different color.

Every piece of paper I used is a scrap but my scrap pile isn't any smaller.

 

I didn't color the butterfly but I did change the outline color to blue then I added some blue pearls from my stash. I used a Spellbinder's die to cut the image out and backed it with a scrap of blue (flip side of the outside paper). I added a few sequins and adhered it with foam pads.

 

The sentiment is from my stamp stash, I wanted to use blue ink on it but the brand I have wouldn't dry on the vellum so I used my black StazOn ink.

 

After chomping the corners I added some blue Imaginisce jewels.

 

 

 

 

French Country Prints Planner/Journal

Have you noticed the Planner/Journal trend that has exploded in the paper crafting world? I thought that these Beautiful French Country Print Daisies would make a perfect Planner/Journal with a matching card.
 

 

There are 2 total images with this Printable, 1 with a white background and 1 with an antique look background.

 

 



I used the white one for the planner/journal and the antique one for the card.
 

 

I printed both of the French Country Prints on a piece of 4 x 6 cardstock.

 

For the Planner/Journal I cut a piece of goldish cardstock, added a piece of chipboard to the back of and covered with another piece of matching cardstock on the inside. I also added a piece of burlap which I frayed. I cut the butterfly with my Cuttlebug and also embossed the top layer which I cut out of a piece of Japanese craft paper that my kids in Tokyo sent me and added a few sequins.

 

I used my Cinch to bind the planner/journal. Here is a picture of the inside.

 

 

 

For the card I started with a 5 x 7 blank card base, I took 2 scraps of goldish cardstock, taping them together at the center with green and white stripped washi tape. 2 wooden butterflies which I colored with my eBrush and added a couple of jewels to the centers, a few sequins and a piece of green and white twine completed the card.
 
The edges of the prints have been inked.
 

Easter Cards

Easter is right around the corner and Deena has several Easter Printables to choose from. I really like this collage sheet featuring vintage Easter images.    

 

You get 5 total images, two 4" squares and three 3" egg shapes.

 



I made two different card designs:

 

 

 

 

For my first card I used Kraft paper for the card base and added a pink background with an Easter ribbon, a few Imaginisce jewels and I was finished with card 1.
 

 

For the second card I added a border stamp from Close to My Heart, sentiment stamp from my stash and a few sequins along with the background paper and ribbon.

 

 

 

The third card is an accordion fold, I used the 3 egg shaped images after starting with a cream card base that I added a touch of color to with my eBrush. I used some scraps to make the layer under the images and I embossed them with my eBosser and Swirltangle folder.

 

The butterflies are some brads from my stash that I cut the backs off of and glued them to the card. I also used a couple of decorative buttons and a bow made with a Couture die set which I won from Create and Craft TV, a few sequins and sentiment which is printed on vellum. I inked all of the edges.

 

Deena's Printable files are so easy to use, just print cut and design, they make the, "work" go very fast so you still have plenty of time to get a few cards made and mailed.

This little bunny told me that he wanted to be a shaker card so I made him into one.

Recipe:

Image from Digi Digi Doodle
Cardstock
Clear Acetate
Washi Tape
Colored Pencils
Sequins, beads, whatever for your shaker
Chipboard (I used an old cereal box)
Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle dies

I printed and colored my image with colored pencils. I cut him out with one of the circle dies. For the shaker component I cut a few layers of chipboard out using 2 circle dies at the same time so that the center would be cut out.
Cut the acetate for the window and a circle inside a circle to make the top part of the frame. Glue the chipboard layers together and let dry thoroughly. Attach chipboard layers to the image layer with strong glue. Add the sequins, beads, etc. then attach the window with strong glue placing the frame on top. Then attach to scalloped circle on bottom and adhere to card face.
I added a piece of washi tape and some sequins.

All of my scraps are from DCVW Christmas stacks

Ribbon

Clear acetate

Chipboard, mine was from the back of a pad of paper.

Sequins

 

Print image, mine is 4" x 4", I cut the frame to fit with my Cricut and Fancy Frames Cartridge. I also cut 4 of the frame from chipboard for the shaker element (rather than using layers of foam tape), I glued one chipboard frame on top of the other, glued the clear acetate window then the red glitter frame.

Assemble the card and layers then place the image on the card face and adhere it using a good adhesive. Place some sequins on top of the image and adhere the layered frame on top of the printed image.

I stamped the, "Happy Holiday's" using a stamp from my stash onto white cardstock then I layered it with a piece of the red glitter paper.
