Happy New Year

The new year is coming up FAST!!! When I received my Spellbinder's November Small Kit of the Month and saw the, "Happy New Year" dies I just had to make some New Year's cards.

The stripped paper is from Craft Smith. The cityscape is from Cricut's Destinations cartridge and the sentiment is from Spellbinder's.

Very easy to make, so simple but so pretty.

Odd thing, when I was looking for the cityscape I was in Design Space searching my cartridges but this image didn't show up, it kept showing me images that I had to buy. I knew that one of my cartridges had to have something like this on it somewhere so I searched each cartridge individually until I came upon this one.

Happy New Year!!! For some quick and easy New Year's cards this file is perfect.
 

 

There are 6 different images and you get 2 of each image in 2 different sizes for a total of 12 images. I used the larger sized images for my cards.

 



 

All of the images are really cute but I think these 2 are the cutest, I love the little cherub faces peeking into the window and my carefree childhood days of sledding in Michigan's snowy winters. I am trying to decide which one to send to my son and his wife in Tokyo, New Years is their big holiday.

 

 

After cutting out the images I backed them with a piece of lightweight chipboard (repurposed cereal box) and inked the edges.

 

 

I embossed the card bases with the a snowflake embossing folder, I used my favorite dot embossing folder on the blue layers. I inked the edges on all of the layers and added gold sequins.

 





 

12 Months of Christmas - Challenge 1 Start DT Sue

 Today starts a brand new blog and I have been honored to have been chosen to be a part of their first Design Team.

This month's theme is Father Time. I used the, "Matter of Time" papers from:

I wanted this image so that I would have a reason to make a shaker card. I have come up with a slightly different way to form my shaker, instead of using 2 layers of foam tape I cut 4 or 5 layers of chipboard, usually an empty cereal box. I glue the layers together, add some weight to the top of the pile and let them dry for a couple of hours before adding the clear acetate and frame.

 

I used my Spellbinders circle dies to cut the shaker layers, and frame by using two different sized circles at the same time forming a thin circle for the base and frame. I used the bigger of the 2 circles to cut out the clear acetate.

 

After printing the Snowglobe - 4 image from Limited Runs I colored it using colored pencils. I also cut a very thin piece of chipboard and attached it to the back of the colored image to add a bit of stiffness and more support for the shaker feature. I also used some small silver sequins as falling snow. I used micro beads for the shaker snow. Please make sure that the glue used on the sequins is totally dry before adding the micro beads. AFTER adding the beads, use some very strong glue to add the clear acetate layer then add the frame, add some weight to the stack and allow to dry. Finish decorating the rest of your shaker to your liking.

 

Attach to your card face, add the, "A Matter of Time" layer, finished shaker, twine and sentiment to the card. I printed my sentiment with my printer onto some cream colored cardstock, inked the edges of my papers and layers.

I had already made a box card which was posted on 12-22 to send to my son and his wife for New Year's but with the size of the envelope and weight of all the goodies on it, the postage would have been $10.00. Mailing to Japan has more than tripled since his first trip there in 2003.
I did my very best to keep this card as simple and thin as I possibly could....well, I HAD to add an Action Wobble, I can imagine how much fun Miki will have with it.

 

Recipe:

Cardstock, I used 2 different blues and a white, was able to use up some more scraps again, HORRAYYY!!!

I printed the sentiment with my printer.

 

After I stamped and colored my image I added some Glossy Accents to most of the snow areas and added a pompom to his hat then I cut the image out using the Spellbinders circle die.

 

 

 

 

Card in a box

Today I used these adorable gift tags on my Card in a Box.  Printable Snowman Gift Tags  from Ewe-N-Me Printables. You get 6 tags total, 2 of each design, all you need to do is cut them out and score down the middle.

 

 

I made this card for my son and daughter in law because they don't celebrate Christmas in Japan,  they celebrate New Year's and send out New Year's cards like we send out Christmas cards.

I think that I have a page of each side, the back side is where you would add your sentiment and signature. On the inside of each gift tag I added either a seasonal stamp or in this one a sentiment.

 

I used a combination of stamps and Cricut cuts to create the decorations. Most of my stamps are from Renee at Plum Purdy .
