Mother's Day Cards

Mother's Day will be here before we know it, these pretty bookmarks make great Mother's Day cards.

You get 4 bookmarks total, 2 of each design. These are very easy to work with, all you need to do is cut them out. I also cut a piece of chipboard and layered mine up, I used all of the bookmarks, putting 1 on the bottom, chipboard than the 2nd bookmark (Lilac on Lilac and Lavender on Lavender) on top.

After layering them up I punched the holes in the top and added a piece of twine. I used my paper crimper on the card face and a Cuttlebug embossing folder (butterflies) with some Core'dinations paper, I sanded some of the embossing along the butterflies, "trails".

I also added a small wood butterfly to each bookmark and a jewel to the center of the butterflies. Sequins and pearls on the opening edge and used my only Mother's Day stamp on the sentiment.

Thank you Renee from www.plumpurdy.com for the wonderful paper crimper and Core'dinations papers.

HIMCR #187 - Super Scraps Saturday

HIMCR #187 - Super Scraps Saturday! And Blog Hop!!!

Just use Scraps and image from Little Miss Muffet Stamps!
The sponsor is Little Miss Muffet Stamps!

The giveaway is $6 Gift Certificate to Little Miss Muffet Stamps!

This week I tried a new technique, using acrylic paint with my embossing folder that I found here: YouTube  I watched this video a couple of times then sat down to give it a try myself. She suggests using watercolor paper, I don't have any so I went with plain cardstock. I found that I was adding either too much water to the paint or putting it on the folder too thick, it took a few tries to get it right. The less busy the folder is, the better your results.

Recipe:

Image from Little Miss Muffet Stamps
Cardstock
Colored pencils
Acrylic paints
Ribbon (my ribbon came from my Create and Craft TV blog hop prize, the ribbons were wrapped around my prizes)
Embossing folders (Cuttlebug Argyle, Darice Flower Frenzy and eBosser Delicate Dots)
Action Wobble
Chipboard

I used up 4 scraps this week, I need to use a up a whole lot more, they are taking over my craft room.

I colored my image with my colored pencils then sat down with my paints and Darice Flower Frenzy embossing folder. I painted the folder and inserted my white cardstock, pressing the paint onto the paper.

I used my Cuttlebug Argyle folder on the pink paper and the eBosser Delicate Dots folder on the blue card base.

I backed my image with a piece of chipboard (old Ritz cracker box) and added an Action Wobble to it.

No sentiment yet because I haven't decided what to use it for.

HIMCR # 177 - Paper Temptress Christmas Colors

HIMCR #177 - Christmas Colors!

This can be whatever colors you like to use at Christmas time!

The sponsor is Papertemptress.com

The giveaway is a pack of Christmas papers from Papertemptress.com!

We got to play with Paper Temptress papers this week, the papers are all beautiful. I had so much fun that I made two projects.

For my first one I used the package of papers sent to me by Paper Temptress. The paper has a beautiful shimmer to it, you can see it on the tree. It also embosses beautifully. The ribbon is two sided (at least it appears to be to me), it is thick heavy duty and very easy to work with.

I freehand cut the card, it is 5 1/2" tall x 4 1/4" wide when folded. The tree is a Cuttlebug die, the star and ornaments are from the same die and embossed with the matching Cuttlebug folder. The white background is embossed using my snowflake Cuttlebug folder. Tree and sentiment are adhered with foam pads.

Papers used:
Card base and red ornaments - Red Pepper Thick Classic Columns (you can see and feel the columns)
White background - Cryogen White
Tree - Emerald Mica/Metallic
Green ornaments and green layer under sentiment - Jelly Bean Green Pop Tones 100#
Cream ornaments - Candido Incandescent
Sentiment stamped onto - Opal Mica/Metallic I used Peeled Paint Ranger Distress Ink to stamp the sentiment.
Star - Gold Metallic
Ribbon - also from Paper Temptress - Green/Red Ladder Ribbon

This paper is wonderful for stamping and embossing.

For my second card I used some papers that a friend had sent me. I cut and embossed the ornament with the same Cuttlebug folder and die set. I wrapped ribbon around the middle of the card using the reverse side from the card above then made a little bow using the reverse side of the ribbon.

The base is a 5 1/2" wide x 4 1/4" when folded cut from a piece of White Wide Columns. You can see and feel the columns.
Sentiment panel:
Bottom - Silver Mica/Metallic
Middle - Neehah Solar Wite 80#
Top - Lapis Lazuli Mica/Metallic (text)
Ornaments:
Red - Jupiter Red Mica/Metallic
Gold - Gold Metallic
Green - Green Felt, it has a texture of it's own that I can't get to photograph well.
Silver - Silver Mica/Metallic

The sentiment is embossed with VersaMark Ink and Snowflake Embossing Tinsel by Ranger.

WOW!!! What a wonderful suprise

A few days ago I opened up my mailbox and there was a very fat envelope for me, it contained these wonderful goodies from my friend Dawn from: Designs by Dragonfly

Super cute card, Juli's Garden Cuttlebug folder, StazOn black ink pad and refill.

I was so surprised, what an awesome unexpected gift.

To show her how much I appreciated her gift, I used it to make her this card:

I used the embossing folder and ink to create this card, I added some glazed dimensions for the flower centers, the black flower and dotted strip were inked with the StazOn black and I stamped them on clear acetate. I used a pink card base, I cut the hole for the flower with my Cricut. Added a piece of pink and black checked ribbon on the side and the sentiment is from Paper Smooches Calorie Free stamp set. The polka dot background on was stamped with my Creative Time Build a Banner Kit, layered onto a piece of black cardstock.

HIMCR #170 - Embossing With Paper Temptress

HIMCR #170 - Embossing!

Any kind of embossing! Dry or Wet, folder or stylus
The sponsor is PaperTemptress

The giveaway is a $25 gift certificate to Paper Temptress

I made this for my friend Dawn from: Designs By Dragonfly I met Dawn over on the Cricut Blog, we were both doing projects for the Extreme Fonts contest. Dawn encouraged me to start a blog and guided me through the process. We always comment on each other's new projects in bloggy land. If Dawn hadn't encouraged me, I would still be stuck on the Cricut Blog doing not much of anything, I have learned a whole lot since starting my own blog and will always be grateful to Dawn for her help and encouragement. Thank you Dawn.

I had a lot of fun with this week's challenge, I did all forms of embossing, dry, wet and stylus. The Paper Temptress papers are so beautiful, I love working with them.

Yellow paper was dry embossed using my eBosser and Delicate Dots folder.

Sentiment was wet embossed using Versa Ink and red embossing powder. I did this on the Paper Temptress Silk Silver Luster paper.

I pulled out my Fiskar's ScrapBoss and embossed the red paper with my stylus. The butterfly was cut using my Cuttlebug and embossed with my eBosser.

Recipe:
This was all done with Paper Temptress scraps:

Redish: Flame Mica/Metallic
Yellow: Gold Mica/Metallic
Orange: Flame Mica/Metallic

The papers all have a shimmer of their own and are very heavy duty.
