DT Day - Connie Can Crop - Skunk Gift Box

Today is my day to show off what I made with my file from this month's sponsor Treasure Box Designs.

They have some really cute SVG's, but I just had to use this cute skunk gift box.

When my son was young I was a sewer, I did tons of sewing and one day when he was napping I decided to give a stuffed animal pattern I had on hand a try. The only one I had the correct colors for was the skunk so I whipped up a stuffed skunk.

When David woke up from his nap and saw the skunk sitting on the edge of the table he grabbed him, named him, "Mr. Skunk" and never let go of him. It became a bit of a family joke embarrassing his older brother and sister to no end.

I'm going to visit David and his beautiful wife Miki in April, they live in Tokyo (NO....I'm not a BIT excited about this new adventure in my life I've been to Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas but never overseas) I am going to buy some Arizona instant lottery tickets to tuck into the skunk box and give to David when I arrive in Tokyo.

This little guy was super easy to cut and assemble. The file is a girl skunk but I switched a couple of things around and made a male skunk. I used blue papers instead of pink and left off the little piece for the hair and the pink flower.

Come and join in this month's fun over at Connie Can Crop for our Anything Goes Challenge. This month's prize is from Treasure Box Designs.

I cut the, "Ahoy Matey" with my Cricut and the, "3 Birds on Parade" cartridge.

4 Fold Card

I came across a new to me fold at: you tube. Here is a link to her blog which gives the sizes to cut the papers but not where to score them, that information is in the video: Dawn's Stamping Thoughts.

All of the patterned papers are from Craft Smith. The tree was cut with my Cricut and the Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge, the ribbon and jewels are from my stash.

The stamps:

"Christmas Cookies" - from Plum Purdy, I have had it about 3 years.

"Merry & Bright" - 12 Days of Christmas from My Mind's Eye, I have had it for 5 years.

All of the rest are from an old set I got as a freebie from a British craft magazine I used to subscribe to and I have had them for at least 5 years.

I am entering this card into this challenge:

HIMCR - NSD - 3 - May Flowers

HIMCR - NSD - 3 - May Flowers

This cute butterfly image is from: Digi Digi Doodle which is now called Spiced Sunshine Digital Images and Stamps.

I got the idea for this project from: this tutorial  it is called, "Exploding Handbag" it opens up for you to stick a small gift into and is VERY easy to make, it took longer to pick out and add embellishments than it did to make the handbag.

I don't know if you can tell or not but the paper has flowers on it, I also added a flower from my stash and colored with my eBrush. I put some pearls and jewels on the butterfly and adhered him with foam pads.

Just for fun

The other day I decided that I didn't have enough crafty responsibilities on my plate so just for fun I pulled out my Darcie's "Enjoy the Little Things" shrink plastic set. This set came with a CD with the image files on it and 4 sheets of shrink plastic, it is all pre-colored.

First you choose an image from the CD then print it onto the shrink plastic, cut the image out leaving a bit of white showing. If you want to add any hangy items you have to punch the hole before you shrink the items.
Shrink per package directions (first I did the biggest piece all by itself because different sized pieces take different amounts of time to shrink). After the plastic cooled I layered my images, added jewels to the flower centers and a clip to the bottom of the main piece and top of the red flower. Then I added another clip to the bottom of the red flower and threaded the key and jewel onto it.
I didn't take a picture of the back but there are 3 round magnets on the back, it can hang from any metal surface you choose to put it on.
Very fun and easy to do. I wish I had bought more of the shrink plastic at the time, this was 1 of my purchases at the last Great Lakes Mega Meet I was able to attend before moving to Arizona.
I also used this shrink plastic to make a, "If you need a babysitter" magnet that my sister requested as she wanted it as a gift to give to her pastor's wife for her baby shower.

For this one I used my Circuit and Baby Steps cartridge to cut the pieces then I used colored pencils to color them and then I shrank them. The printing on the white piece was done with my printer before I cut out the business card sized (after shrinking) piece.
