Connie Can Crop - Watercolor Challenge

This month's challenge over at Connie Can Crop is Watercolors. You need to use watercolor somewhere on your project.

I used watercolor paper because it doesn't curl up as much as regular paper does when you get it wet and it is very heavy duty. First I used 3 different shades of blue watercolor paint on the background. When it was dry I used StazOn to ink the background.

 

I also colored a scrap of watercolor paper with yellow, pink and green paint then stamped the image directly on top of it.

 

I used blue cardstock for my base.

Recipes:

"Thank you" card":

The center area was colored with a Gelato then I added some texture paste on the corners with a stencil. After the paste was dry I used a mini distress ink pad to add some color. Then I added some Imaginisce jewels and a piece of twine.

"Twist and Pop" Card:

I got the directions from: You Tube.

Turkey images from: Ewe - N - Me Printables.

I added some jewels to the sentiment panel to hide the glue dots under the vellum.

I added some twine to help hold them closed while they are traveling through the snail mail system.

The cards are a whole lot easier to make than they look, please give them a try.

I stumbled across this challenge a couple of days ago and I thought it looked like fun so I decided to play along.

 

Recipe:

 

Card Base - Pumpkin cardstock from my stash

Stamp - Pumpkin with sunflowers from Plum Purdy - colored with Pumpkin, Light Pumpkin, Yellow, Green on Pale Beige Watercolor paints on Watercolor Paper

HIMCR # 215 - Favorite Team Colors

I am not a football fan, but I LOVE hockey and my favorite team is the Detroit Red Wings who's colors are: red & white at home, white & red away from home with a bit of black thrown in.

 

The images are all from Pickled Potpourri's, "Under the Sea" set of digi stamps.

 

The underwater scene is gelato's on watercolor paper with a bit of glitter paint on the sandy part and starfish. It is hard to see the glitter paint but it is there.

 

 



After coloring the background, (I won't lie, this is my second background the first one was not the correct size for the box because I didn't plan this out very well, I didn't decided on the shadow box idea until after I had completed the first background), I trimmed it a bit to fit the box.

The box is from the Silhouette store and cut with my Cameo, there were other pieces for the original shadow box but all I really wanted was the box so the other pieces were deleted.

I also decided that it needed a window, with all of the dust in the air in Arizona I didn't want to leave it open. I stamped 2 dolphins on the clear acetate I used for the window, colored and fussy cut all of the fish, plants, lobster, etc. and added some black enamel for the eyes. I adhered them to the background with foam squares.

I used white to cut the box out with then added some red Bazzill Basics and a piece of black and white ribbon around the sides and some enamel dots to the top.

I got to work with this cute unicorn.

 

I started with a 5 x 7 card base, to make the background I used a piece of watercolor paper which I dry embossed then I added some color with my gelatos. The thing I have found out about gelatos is, less is better unless you want a very dark, heavy color. After coloring with the gelatos I rubbed the color in with my finger and a wet paint brush.

 

I colored my image with chalks and cut out with a Spellbinder's circle die, I also backed the image with a piece of chipboard cut with the same die. I put an Action Wobble on the back before attaching to the card.

 

The sun, cloud and sentiment are all from the Spellbinder's Celebrations set thanks to Alicia at Golden Goddess Designs and a Spellbinder's facebook giveaway, she tagged me, I tagged her and her name was drawn along with mine.

 

I added a few sequins and a piece of twine.

We used My Besties digi images for this project.

 

I was able to use all scraps on this card but my scrap pile doesn't seem to be getting any smaller.

 

The layer directly behind the image was done on watercolor paper, after I dry embossed it, I colored it using watercolor pencils then I brushed water over all of the color making it all blend together.

 

No sentiment yet because I haven't decided what to use it for.
