The long, long trip........

As a few of you may have noticed, I haven't done any posting for a while that is because I was away on a very long trip. I have never been away from home for an entire month before and I don't think that I'll ever do that again. I HATE hotels, they all seem to be so filthy and GROSS!! We just happened to leave Arizona when the excessive heat dome hit the country. It was impossible to keep on riding in all of that heat all day long so we ended up taking 9 days to ride from Arizona to Michigan, sleeping in nasty hotels all the way. Then we spent 2 weeks sleeping on a couch before a 7 day ride home. We did spend the last night on the road at the Twin Arrows Casino just east of Flagstaff, AZ. What a hotel, beautiful, clean and I didn't have to wear my hazmat suit to shower or sleep.

Don't get me started on the 20 hours I spent locked in a hospital waiting room not knowing anyone in there on my birthday waiting for a baby to be born. Being claustrophobic, having to spend any amount of time in a small room is way, way too much for me.

I was able to get a few pictures of things I needed for the Scavenger Hunt I have been playing along with this summer.

#7 - A family gathering - my sister and I having Afternoon Tea in Tawas City, MI

#9 - Someone playing with, in or near water - here I am wading in Lake Huron on a chilly day.

#14 - Buffet of food - Afternoon Tea YUMMIES!!!

#16 - A map showing a trip taken during the time period - our route to Michigan...the return was more fun as we took several back roads.

#18 - A supermarket cart, basket or trolley full of groceries.

I still have a few more items to collect.

Online Scavenger Hunt Item #4

I'm still playing along with the Online Scavenger Hunt, I needed a picture of a magazine or a book that I have read during the scavenger hunt window. My AAA Arizona magazine arrived the other day and this morning I took the time to read it.

Here are a couple of links for you so that you can look and see what others have taken pictures of or decide to take part in the hunt yourself:

Photo Scavenger Hunt #3 - A Family Gathering

My family is scattered all over the place, from Michigan to Japan with me in the middle in Arizona and I don't know when I'll see any of them. However I do need a picture of a family gathering for the Photo Scavenger Hunt going on over on facebook so I spent the morning going over old family pictures and found my pictures from my Dad's last birthday party.

Dad had already been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, he was given 6 months to live so we packed as much living into his remaining time as we could. He was actually with us for another 18 months after his diagnosis thanks to some experimental drugs. Sadly he was too ill the following year for another party so this was his last one.

That's Dad in the yellow hat (I brought the hats and my siblings thought that I was goofy but everyone wore one) and Dad's wife Jane in the top picture.

In the middle we have my sister-in-law Mary Beth from the back, my brother Scott, sister Sandy, Dad, Jane my cousin and her husband...long story about my Dad's siblings having all been put up for adoption and I this was the one and only time I ever met this cousin, the bald guy is her husband.

In the bottom we have my son David, Jane, Dad, Mary Beth and Sandy.

I still miss him every day.

Photo Scavenger Hunt #3 - Camper - Scrapbook Page - Team Logo

Here is my 3rd post for the Photo Scavenger Hunt.

I got 2 campers, they are both down the street from us. I spotted them yesterday when we went out for a few groceries.

Double scrapbook page of a Detroit Red Wings/Phoenix Coyotes hockey game we went to in January (thanks to my guy's daughter, the tickets, room and parking were our Christmas gift). It was our first venture down to the Phoenix area. I just completed this page for the scavenger hunt and a challenge over at Sketch - N - Scrap, based on this sketch.

AND!!! Our Detroit Red Wings team logo on a program from the Red Wings/Sharks game we attended in Detroit back in 2012. Once again, thanks go my guy's daughter, the tickets were another Christmas gift. And a Wing's logo I had picked up back in Michigan before we moved to the high desert of Arizona.

I have about 3,000 pictures to get printed up and made into pages since before our move in July 2012, I just love these challenges that make me get at least a couple of those pics scrapped at a time.

I need to find a bicycle for the scavenger hunt. I think there are more horses in town than bicycles due to the very steep hills and heat, not very many people ride a bike around here.

Photo Scavenger Hunt - Porch - Fresh Produce - Window - Seasonal Beverage

Hot time, summer in the city....HOT, HOT, HOT as the blazes here in Arizona today and we live in northern AZ where it is a little cooler than down in the Phoenix area. It was 91 degrees at 9:00 a.m. today.

Ok, back to the Summer Scavenger Hunt. Today I have fresh produce - lemons which led to the summer beverage - lemonade (which I make with the lemons several times a week), porch and window.

Photo Scavenger Hunt - #1 - Naturally Occuring Heart

Thanks to Alicia over at Golden Goddess Designs I have to join in on this Photo Scavenger Hunt .

The first item on the list is a, "wild heart"....hummm....where in the Arizona desert can you find a naturally occurring heart? As I was taking a post card out to my mailbox for the mailman to pick up today I actually spotted one in my very own front yard.

We stumbled across a very small cactus growing wild in the yard 2 years ago, I decided to transplant it into an empty spot we had where we had lost a shrub the year before never dreaming that this little plant would grow to be as big as it is as fast as it has.

Here is a picture of the entire plant.

You can see the heart shaped pad over on the right.

Here is a list of the items on the scavenger hunt. I'm wondering where I'm going to find numbers 2 and 3. If you want to join in on the fun, follow the link to the scavenger hunt above.
