HIMCR Blogiversary #3 - Back to School!
The sponsor is Digi Digi Doodle
The giveaway is ?????
I was very happy with this project until I got up this morning and saw the wrinkles in the vinyl, I shouldn't have used any glue on the letters, I should have stuck to my Xyron sticker maker. Or if we lived in a perfect world I would have had some black paint on hand to use (that was my first choice).
Recipe:
Apple digi from Digi Doodle
Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge
Red, black and white cardstock, clear craft plastic
Black vinyl or paint (I would use paint if I did it again)
14 x 11 canvas
Glazed Dimensions, black enamel accents, colored pencils
Mister Huey's Color Mists - Shine
Foam pads, Xyron 1 1/2" sticker maker
Attach vinyl to canvas or paint canvas black (I strongly recommend the paint).
I ptinted the apple out using red cardstock then again using white cardstock. I fussy cut the red apple out then colored in the stem, leaves, nose and mouth on the white apple and fussy cut those out. I also did a fussy cut on the white cardstock eyes but didn't color them. Shape leaves and run a bead of Glazed Dimensions to center of leaves. Attach leaves, stem, eyes, nose and mouth with foam pads.
I cut the font from the Cricut Birthday Bash cartridge at 1 1/8", using white cardstock then I sprayed the letters with Mister Huey's Shine while still on the Cricut mat and let them dry. I also cut the font shadow from black cardstock and cut a second set of letters using the Clear Craft Plastic. (I wanted to use white glitter paper but didn't have enough) so I decided to make it shine a different way.
If you look real close you can see the shimmer of the font. |
Attach apple to vinyl using double sided tape. The set of books on the bottom was an extra from a previous project a few weeks ago. Put black Enamel Accents on the dots on the apple's face.
Like the cute apple face on your back to school card. The HIMCR #3 & #2 challenges indicate they do not start until 8/16 which is really the end date & there's no linky for them.

your apple is so cute! it reminds me of the child's toy apple! do you know the one I am talking about? I think it had a weight in the bottom and maybe played music?
