Family History Blog HOp

Welcome to the Exploring Family History blog hop. We are creating crafts related to our family history. Most of us would agree when began paper crafting to create a historical record of our and for our families. Of course, we love to get inky and sticky while doing it so let's dig into our crafty family history projects.

But first, we would like to say a HUGE THANKS to our sponsor today. Theresa is giving away a $20 Stampin' Up Gift Certificate to one lucky winner AND take 10% off any order placed through her (not available on website) by October 31th. Email her at scrapsbygracie AT gmail.com with your order.
All you have to do to win this fabulous prize is comment on each of the blogs. That's it! It really is easy. Of course, we would love it if you became a follower too. Comment buttons can be found at the bottom of the post (on most of the blogs). Now on with the hop!

I used a picture of my sister and I having Afternoon Tea on our recent long, long trip to Michigan to visit family. I have more pictures to add in the future, I think that I am still recovering from that long, long trip. For the page opposite the picture of us, I printed out the lyrics to the song, "Sisters" from, "White Christmas".

For the cover I used watercolor paper, I used watercolor paint to color the background then I used a background stamp on top of the paint, added some washi tape, title and a couple of stick pins.

After I cut all of my pages I used my Cinch to punch the holes and bind them all together, added some jewels and ribbons.

Here is the lineup for the rest of the hop:

HIMCR #214 - Freestyle!!!

HIMCR #214 -  Freestyle!!

The sponsor is Sami Stamps!
The giveaway is a $12 Gift Certificate to Sami Stamps!

I decided to make a mini album with this week's image, this image is prefect for summer memories. I used a couple of the items I picked up at the HOOT convention in Ohio, the white dots on the ice cream were made with DecoArt's Snow Writer which is a dimensional paint and you can't see it in the picture but on the cone I added some DecoArt Craft Twinkles.

All of the embellishments and printed papers are from docrafts Little Meow collection which I won via facebook and docrafts.

I sprayed the solid papers with my ebrush and a variety of markers. I used my Cinch to bind the pages.

French Country Prints Planner/Journal

Have you noticed the Planner/Journal trend that has exploded in the paper crafting world? I thought that these Beautiful French Country Print Daisies would make a perfect Planner/Journal with a matching card.

There are 2 total images with this Printable, 1 with a white background and 1 with an antique look background.

I used the white one for the planner/journal and the antique one for the card.

I printed both of the French Country Prints on a piece of 4 x 6 cardstock.

For the Planner/Journal I cut a piece of goldish cardstock, added a piece of chipboard to the back of and covered with another piece of matching cardstock on the inside. I also added a piece of burlap which I frayed. I cut the butterfly with my Cuttlebug and also embossed the top layer which I cut out of a piece of Japanese craft paper that my kids in Tokyo sent me and added a few sequins.

I used my Cinch to bind the planner/journal. Here is a picture of the inside.

For the card I started with a 5 x 7 blank card base, I took 2 scraps of goldish cardstock, taping them together at the center with green and white stripped washi tape. 2 wooden butterflies which I colored with my eBrush and added a couple of jewels to the centers, a few sequins and a piece of green and white twine completed the card.

The edges of the prints have been inked.

Halloween Mini Book Made With A Snack Bag Wrapper

Good morning everyone. Today's project is a bit different, I used a Halloween Snack Bag Wrapper to create a mini Halloween book. I pulled out some old Halloween pics of my son to create this.

First I printed the Printable from Ewe-N-Me Printables and cut it out, then I picked out some scraps from my stash to create the pages and trimmed them to fit inside. I cut 6 pages, making them a little smaller than the area inside the wrapper.

Then I punched the holes for the binding wire using my Cinch Book Binder. It's important to do this step before adding your pictures/embellishments so that you don't inadvertently place something in the way of where you want the holed punched.

I decorated my pages and did the binding with my Cinch.

Adhere the back page of the mini book to the inside back of the Snack Bag Wrapper.

Use a decorative paper clip to hold book closed.

This was fast and easy to make and is a perfect little book to send my son, his wife loves pictures of David when he was young.
