Spring House

I went a bit off the DT reservation and came up with this little cottage this week. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been chosen to be on the Hiding in My Craft Room Design Team, my first project for them goes live on 4-5.

Spring is in the air (it’s been spring all winter here, just turned chilly on Monday but the sun is shinning and warmer temps are on their way) and I have been wanting to play with this project for some time.

My original inspiration came from:

I added some of my own touches.

Cardstock, I printed the polka dot and trim papers with my Cricut Imagine. The original cut calls for 12” x 24” paper so I taped two pieces together on the back after I printed it.
I cut the lambs, rabbits and light green tulip pieces from Bazzill Basics, I love the polka dots on them.
I used glitter papers for the tulips.
Googley eyes, pearls, Glazed Dimensions, micro beads and adhesives.
Cricut’s Winter Woodland, Spring Cottage, Easter 2010 and Ribbons and Rosettes cartridges.
Flowered embossing folder.

House and fence pieces can be cut using the ccr cuts you’ll find a link to via this link to the original project: or with these instructions:

The house is from Winter Woodland, it is the: <3rdBldg4> cut @ 5.5”, the original file has you cut two houses but you only need 1.
Fence is from Spring Cottage with 4 cuts all welded together to make longer pieces. The original file has you cut 8 of the strips, you only need 4 strips.
Flowers also come from Spring cottage, tulips and forget me nots.
Grass is from Ribbons and Rosettes cartridge, the grass 1 x 11 border cut at 1” and again a little bit bigger.
Add vellum cuts to windows before assembling house.
I wasn’t able to hide the, “seam” I created where I had taped the paper together so I covered it up by first putting ¼” wide Terrifically Tacky Tape on the edges and adding micro beads.
Emboss roof with flowered folder.
Adhere grass to front of house and embellish as desired.
Assemble fence, then add grass cuts to both sides. Embellish with flowers, lambs and rabbits as desired. I used flowers and rabbits on both sides of fence.
I added eyes and Glazed Dimensions to the lambs and Glazed Dimensions noses to the rabbits before adhering to fence and house. I used foam pads to adhere some of them, some are simply glued directly to surface.
