Connie Can Crop - REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE

This month's challenge over at Connie Can Crop is all about REUSING, REDUCING, RECYCLING.

I started with a very old gift bag that I really have no use for and an empty coffee jar.

 





I cut out the image on the front of the bag along with a strip of the paper (it says, "happy birthday") and the candles on the side of the bag. One of the candles was really crinkled up so I only used 3 of them.

 

For the jar I started out using some Mod Podge to adhere some used foreign postage stamps I had received from a pen pal to use in a project. When I had the stamps on the jar and added, "Japan" I found that I didn't like the result so I took everything off and started over, coming up with this little, "Japan Savings Bank" for my hopefully future trip to Japan to visit my son and his wife.

 

 

As you can see, I have a long ways to go to have enough money for that kind of trip.

 

Here are both projects together.

 

 

And the bank sitting on my kitchen/living room shelf so I can put my pennies into it every time I come home.









The card measures 8" wide x 5.25" tall, I embossed the card with a honeycomb embossing folder and adhered all of the pieces I had cut out with craft glue.

For the jar I used my Cuttlebug alphabet dies to cut the, "Japan" and added some extra jewels from my stash.
